Goals from Liam Lewis and a late winner from Jon Evans saw the Roosters earn three points in their first match of the 2019/20 JD Cymru North season.
It was a lively start to the game with Penrhyn having most of the possession in the first 10 minutes. Jon Evans nearly got an early goal for the Roosters after he turns the Llanrhaeadr defender but he fires it into the side netting.
That seemed to wake Llanrhaeadr up as not long after, Tom Baily had a chance to send Llanrhaeadr ahead but his header edged past the post.
Steffan Davies had a good chance to put the Roosters 1-0 up in the 35th minute, but he was caught in an offside position from a pass.
Antonio Corbisiero had the perfect chance to put Gari Lewis' side ahead just before half tme but his shot steered just wide of the hosts' goal, and the entertaining first half ended 0-0.
Less than a minute into the second half, Corbisiero was pushed over in the box but the referee waved away the players' and supporters' of the Roosters protests for a penalty.
After ten minutes of not much action, Llanrhaeadr starting piling the pressure once again as Thomas Gale takes a shot at the goal, but it creeped just over the bar, goal kick for Penrhyn.
Minutes later, Steffan Davies does well to cut the ball into the box after a good but his shot is deflected over the bar by a Llanrhaeadr defender.
Two minutes later, Penrhyn got a corner which was whipped onto the head of young defender Tom Evans, his header lands at the feet of Liam Lewis who fires it into the back of the net to give the Roosters a 1-0 lead!
After another 15 minutes of minimal action, Liam Lewis was so close to getting his second of the game. After running down the wing and turning into the box, his shot just edges wide of the post!
After defending well and applying pressure for most of the game, heartbreak came in the 90th minute after a cross from Iain Edmunds lands at the head of Matthew Williams who heads it home and levels it for the hosts.
Oh, but the game wasn't over yet! Just as the fans were about to pack away and depart the ground, Penrhyn had an amazing chance to send the Roosters ahead once again but two attempts hit the bar and crossbar in quick succession, completely devastation the travelling Roosters fans, but Jon Evans had other ideas. The ball landed at his feet and he smashed it home to put the Roosters 2-1 up in the 92nd minute! The travelling fans went wild in the stand and so did Jon Evans, running over to celebrate with the bench!
A thrilling away day and a win in our first match of the season will be a big boost for the upcoming games. Next Saturday we welcome Ruthin Town to Cae Baker, 2:30pm kick-off. See you there!
